  • About Clayden Potters

    Most of our creating at Clayden Potters is hand-built, though a wheel is available and many members are proficient in throwing.

    Clayden is a non-profit club; Work fired at our studio must not be offered for sale on a commercial basis. Only financial members may have their work fired at Clayden Potters.

    We depend on our Members to actively contribute and keep our Club running smoothly. There are no paid staff – we are all here to enjoy potting at the studio.

    Not at all. Clayden Potters welcomes everyone from complete beginners through to experienced potters. Our members are a friendly and supportive group who enjoy sharing their knowledge and helping one another develop their skills.

    Clayden Potters is a community pottery club rather than a commercial pottery school. Members can receive informal guidance from other potters, and we also hold regular workshops covering different techniques and projects.

    Beginners are welcome, but should be prepared to learn through a combination of workshops, practice, online resources and assistance from fellow members.

    Yes. Visitors aged 13 and over are welcome to attend up to three times before deciding whether to become a member. A visitor fee of $10 per visit applies.

    Only current financial members may have pottery fired in the Clayden Potters kilns.

    All work submitted for firing must be made from approved materials, clearly marked with the member’s unique maker’s mark and prepared in accordance with the club’s firing requirements. Charges are calculated according to the size and type of work being fired.
